Chemung County Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2023 announced
Chemung County Sports Hall of Fame Announces Class of 2023. The 2013 inductees consisted of five athletes, two coaches and one contributor.

Inductee Bios
Three-Sport Star Zac Ballinger of Edison High School. He was an all-state pick in baseball, football, and basketball. In baseball Bellinger established several school records major among them being the most hits in a career, hitting more than 15 home runs during his final two years at Peoria. After that, he played baseball at D-I St. John's University.
Garvin was a state wrestling champion two times over at Elmira Notre Dame High School. In addition, he was a two-time all-state football player. Garvin proceeded to wrestle in Shostra University, Division I based institution where he qualified twice for NCAA.
Hollie (Cook) Hughey was a star of the Horseheads High School basketball. She also played a role in her team winning two state championships and was two-time all-state selection. Hughey continued her career at Syracuse University, Division I in which she became a two-time Big East All-Star.
Notre Dame High School produced these outstanding softball player named Rachel Lamoreaux. Twice being named all-state and leading her team to a state championship. Lamoreaux would play softball at Division I University of Buffalo, where she went on to earn two-time all-conference honours.
Morgan Marcello was a former giant vollyball player of Edison High. She played a vital role in helping her team win two state championships and was considered an all-state selection twice. She attended Division I University of Florida as a two-time all-conference selection and ended up playing volleyball at that level.
John Schnurr becomes the boys’ basketball coach with most wins in Elmira High School history. His teams won over 400 games and three state championships. Schnurr even coached the baseball which won two state championships.
The Elmira Free Academy all-time winningest football coach— Ron Tunnell. Under his leadership, he coordinated his teams’ win over 200 games and achieved four state championships. Tunnell also did well when he coached wrestling and his teams won two state titles.
WETM-TV sports director Andy Malnoske. The sports he has covered for over the past 25 years are those of Chemung County. The commentating personality has been honored three times with the “Best Sports Play-by-Play Announcer” award. googletag.
Induction Ceremony
The inductees will be honored at a ceremony on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 7: 30 PM in the Josh Palmer Holiday Basketball Tournament at Elmira High School.
